Help me with the following: I am considering switching things up a bit. I want my efforts to promote blossom down growing to be competitive and fun for the blossom-down growers but also promotes competitive growing/pumpkin growing as a whole. So, fellow growers... this year I am thinking about a prize that would go to your club. Thats the reverse of how prizes are normally paid (which is slightly humorous) but it fits with our good community spirit???

Are all clubs registered non-profits? Some growers might belong to more than one club. The prize would be donated to whichever club(s) the grower wished. If this sounds good let me know... If it sounds terrible definitely let me know... Involvement in how the competition is set up is welcome at this point. Send me an email if you have helpful insights or wish to be involved.

I am thinking $500 to your club if you win this year. If you would like to add a seed or seeds or item to the prize list contact me before february... I will post about this years competition in february. thanks.

Im growing several blossoms down this year. Everyone loves them at WOs. I grew the 793 Toffness, nice orange and the most perfect shaped kin ive ever grown. Only 478 lbs but it was a late july pollination. It was grown on a huge pile of sand. My other one was grown on a pallet. I think the pallet is th way to go. Please let me know if you are going to use it. Thanks

I will be trying pallets this year. I have tried many on dirt which works fairly well but if the dirt is uneven the pumpkin will match the shape of the dirt so the bottom may not be very flat.

I will try using 3 inch cedar fencing laid tight together atop a regular pallet (or a bigger pallet if any look more promising.) The reason I did not grow on a pallet last year is I could not figure out how to keep water from puddling on a plywood surface. Part of the challenge is figuring out how to make it work for you. I will share what I know and what I am trying. I am very curious to to know more n d fan if you dont mind emailing me or sharing more of your experience growing with a pallet vs sand...

Pretty easy too keep water from puddling on plywood.
Just drill a bunch of holes;then water proof it so it does not rot.
