Can anyone tell us what is the oldest still active giant pumpkin growing club in the US and in the World? I believe the Pacific North West Giant Pumpkin Growers is right in there they registered with the state around 1995 I believe.

Thanks all you historians out there!

OVGPG started in Jan. 1995. We will celebrate our 25th anniversary next year. Our champion was Jerry Rose (816#) in 1995.Karl Haist is the site record holder (2416.5#). Almost 3X.
Ottawa is no longer active. Our friend, Gus Saunders was the site coordinator and started the international seminars.

I have a Ottawa-ST. Lawrence Growers Pumpkin Mini Tab of February 1995. News letter # 7 Herman Bax is on the front cover with his WR 990. Al Eaton may have earlier. Jim

Great topic. When I ordered my pumpkin tarp, they sent me a couple of old newsletters from the pumpkin confederation from the early nineties. It was really cool. A lot of time and passion went into creating newsletters back then.

Giant pumpkin weigh-offs were happening at the Circleville Pumpkin Show way back in the seventies, with George Coon a perennial winner(that's as far back as I remember). However, the question was which CLUB is oldest and that is unknown to me. Perhaps Doc Liggett will chime in.

Wow long proud history of growers contributions get our clubs to where we stand today! My question is what club has the oldest registration as a state registered club. Non profit, for profit, any legal documentation that establishes your clubs origion.

Not trying to piss folks off just looking for succession of linage of of our clubs births.

Thanks,

Gerry
