Before this years results I’d call 1750 a heavy hitter but now we are entering the era of 2500 lb pumpkins. So less than 1750 is mid-level, fair enough! I have almost no chance of hitting 1750 but I’m in. I’ll sign up when you decide what to charge... $25 sounds great.

... an online competition for the small veggies not covered by the gpc...

Clarify what those numbers at the top mean exactly is that the contest number and the weight you have to beat? Thanks

I like the 1000 lb. contest. It reminds me of closest to the line in a golf driving contest. Normally, a longest drive contest is out of the reach of most golfers since there is always a couple of club pros out there, but closest to the line could be won by anyone who can keep it in the fairway. Plus, it would give someone a reason to have a 1000 lb. pumpkin weighed at GPC contest if that would normally be way out of the money. More pumpkins at more weigh-offs is a good thing.

I think me and wile coyote are gonna do a marrow battle. But I think the less overlap you have with the gpc the better. Its just a perception issue maybe. Honestly you would find a wider consumer market for a giant zucchini contest. A win-win not step on gpc toes and actually reach a greater number of gardeners it sounds silly but I would actually be interested in trying giant zucchini seeds if you had them avail. Maybe i'm nuts but I think you would sell more giant zucchini seeds than marrow and you would have the market all to yourself which is a good thing in any business. Kind of a humbling suggestion for this site but our fair has a giant zucchini contest and its a totally non-gpc set of growers who compete so its like a whole other world. It might be quite popular although in a humble down to earth way.

Maybe the gpc will appreciate any promotion of marrows thats between you and the gpc... Thats none of my business... people get very passionate about perceived conflicts/competition I'm sure you know this better than anyone!

There is no conflict with GPC in my honest opinion. The hobby is growing & plenty of room for everyone.Just like Football league, constanly changing & growing..Its mostly just perception I guess. Most of us dont like change.

I don't see any conflict. GPC is the NFL, and Mark is basically office pool gambling.

No Gambling here folks But I understand what you mean. BUTT Gambling is a game of chance.Growers earn the awards & prizes each season. But yes WWGG is just growers having fun & making competitions & achievements for new growers mostly.New growers are the lifeline of the Hobby/sport.Most of us have a medical issue called O.L.D. Its very contagious and limits are days of growing.I may take 2019 off or just grow 1 plant as my knee has been bothering me the past year.Doctor told me Its called over use & a bad case of O.L.D. So Jack will have my BACK in years to come if he chooses to.I have a 2145 to give away this month in my new presale for 2019. The other 2145 I will grow, most likely in 2020.After all hindsight is 2020.LOL In the meantime Im thinking another contest for the new grower $100 Biggest Orange Porch pumpkin under 500 lbs.Can be grown with my $10 Jacks seed pack.So all in all 4 Giant Pumpkin contests. Please join us & I support the GPC 100% & always will

Well worth the money to join! Just for the knowledge that is shared. I believe Mark does a good job of getting the knowledge of growing out there and promoting the sport.
