Found a good source of reasonably priced compost, however they are sold out until Spring. Does it hurt to apply compost in the spring and till it in? My preference would be to do it this Fall, but I may not find another option.
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you

Ive done it both ways-depends on quality and maturity of the compost.

Make sure the compost is fully mature. 2 Iowa growers I know ended up with compost that wasn't mature and it basically burned up their plants, wrecked a growing season.
I get my compost from the City of Cedar Rapids. They have huge piles of finished compost and I have never had a problem with fall or spring application. I can't get any right now, their site is cut off by flood water and my garden is way too wet to work on.

You can test it by sprouting some radish seeds in the compost to test how hot it or may not be.
