If the stem is rotten on a pumpkin but it is still firm under the stem (can't push a screwdriver in any place ) is it still considered sound or is it toast. If still sound what is the best treatment to make it last a week. I cut off and scooped out all rotting material and washed the area down with bleach water and put a fan on it. Yes I know the fan would hAve been a good idea a couple weeks ago.😀

per g.p.c. rules -B) The stem itself will not be applicable to judging

Place it where it gets sun to help dry it out.

Put a fan on it so it will get some air flow that will help dry it and some fungicide. And before weigh off wash all fungicide off

You could cut the whole stem off the pumpkin and take it to a weigh off. Valid fruit.
