Our pumpkin has a certain curvature about its blossom end that has the nub pressed against the rind of the pumpkin. Removing the nub seems like a good idea. I’ve never had this issue before. Is there anything that I need to know before I do this?

Go for it. Sulfur & a fan on for 48 hrs & it'll dry up. I've had to do it several times.

Thanks. We have storms in the forecast for the next few days - again - so hopefully the pruning sealant will have enough time to dry

I did this last year and ended up with rot going straight through the blossom and killing the pumpkin. I don't think sulphur does any good at all tbh. Without seeing a pic, I can't really see that the blossom touching the pumpkin being a problem? If you really think it is, perhaps wedge something neutral in between with a bit of give eg expanded plastic or polystyrene
