Hi, I recently lost both of my pumpkins. I am thinking about next year. I want to definitely try a nice orange genetic seed. I want to find the right one. So can you Toss out a few good ones? I want a nice deep ribby bright orange one! Thanks!

Lots of great options out there. The 816 Gansert I’m growing has very deep ribs and going dark orange. It’s the 1048 Engel x 811 Gerhardt so cant go wrong there.

I'd like to know how colour progresses as pumpkin grows. For me, the ones that end up deep orange are yellow or yellowish orange as growing and don't get deep orange until mature or nearly mature.

In my experience you can tell pretty early on if a pumpkin is going to be orange. But we have been fooled before and this example is what we always show people..... Aug 26 http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=73322 Sept 23 http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=75153

Thanks VTJohn. But I want to see same pumpkin, over developmental stages. At 35 days, you can see orange, as in your last one, but does not tell me how it changed from day 1 to then. That is what I mean by developmental changes.

Orange is the way to go... Lots to choose from but 1912 Carter and 1317 Clementz and progeny... and maybe that 920 Cooper. Mendi I think had a rather orange one off the 2145 seed. Werner has a whole line of orange. Bnot has a nice lineage going and all the orange guys and gals have great seeds... Keep your eyes out at your local weigh off pictures often dont show the pumpkins well. Some are better than the picture shows... Others might catch your eye in a picture but in real life they are just average.
