Has anyone put soil heating cables in sand around their pumpkin to keep it warm at night? Good idea or no?

I dont think there has been much success in warming pumpkins, but I remember someone doing what you're talking about,I think it was last year.I figure its bad to have a warm fruit and a cold vine that's not delivering what the pumpkins wanting

Yes, I have read on here folks installing heat cables far enough under the kin to give some late season heat, as well as turning them on at the main root.
