So i believe our entire patch has gotten a disease. Havent gotten that part figure out yet. But i was wondering since the vines are dying off, is there a way to save the pumpkins that are out there and decent size?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am by far no expert. If you have buried the vine at the nodes then you might have enough roots to keep the vine alive ahead of the disease. I have lost a stump, but had a strong enough secondary that it acted like a stump. Just cut the vine ahead of the disease just before a node and see if the you have enough roots to keep things moving.

If the vine continues to die out, then you might just have to harvest what you have and hope that it does not rot. I had a vine die out this weekend and I harvested the pumpkin. It was already mostly orange so we shall see.

Best of luck.

Don’t know what kind of pumpkins you’re growing or what your plant looks like. But please note that burying the vine is never the way to combat a disease. We’d need pics to help much further than that.

Going off your description of the vines are dying and you’re trying to keep pumpkins preserved, it’s important to keep an 8 foot or so section of rooted vine on the pumpkin. I lost and entire plant at end of August years back, and kept only 4 feet of vine before and 4 feet of vine after that was rooted. This kept the pumpkin alive all through September. Another year, I cut a healthy 10 foot secondary with a pumpkin on it and let that one 10 foot section with less than 10 leaves grow a 200 pounder by year end. Many growers like myself whose plants have been beat up all year by heat, borers, disease, storms etc are going into survivor mode soon, and point is a nice healthy little section of rooted vine will get you there.

I never suggested burying the vine as a solution. I said if you "have buried the vine at the nodes" then you might have enough roots to keep it alive if you cut the main vine. Essentially, the same thing as Smallmouth. I like adding dirt at the nodes just to help encourage rooting. But it is certainly something that I do as SOP and not as a method of combating an already diseased vine.

Look at the bright side Lilgates12, at least people are responding to your request for help.

The best way would be for you to create a grower’s diary and submit pics there.
Then we could see what your plant looks like & we could give you better advice.
