Well that's stupid! My fruit just shut down yesterday. So I figured if it is done growing I'll bring it.
Guess it's to late

It is an early cutoff. They also wanted the kins delivered on the 22nd. I thought about putting in an entry just in case my pumpkin slowed/stopped by then, but am all in for the later weighoffs now.

I looked at the rules for entering this in January. I think the pumpkin type they weigh are field pumpkins not AGs.

The Minnesota State Fair has a certified scale, sling and a fork lift which they use to weigh the AGs.

Has the MN State Fair showed an interest in becoming a GPC site? Bnot had mentioned moving Gale Woods back to September. This would be an additional site for MN growers who would like to pursue the GPC award of Grower of the Year instead of having to do back to back days at Gale Woods and Anoka Halloween or bringing multiple pumpkins to a weigh off.

I have not suggested moving gale woods. That should stay in the same location and time slot. I am looking at additional event just for tomatoes at the beginning of September. I think it is preferable to keep the tomato event separate from the fair.

I wasn't suggesting that Gale Woods be eliminated/date changed. I think having a tomato event at the fair would be better because 1. Sponsors like to see big crowds of people. I don't think crowd size would be as big at a stand alone event. 2. There is a much better chance of attracting new people to growing giant tomatoes than a stand alone event. 3. Much more free publicity about the fair event than stand alone.

It's not GPC, but there is a largest tomato contest at the fair.

wilie, you are looking at the easy road...not the big road. I am looking a bit different perspective than you. I will try to explain more at Gale Woods.
