Excellent diary entries! It's nice to see a day-by-day treatment of what seems to be a common problem. How deep did you cut?

The stem is cut right through the stem into the hollow part. The skin of the pumpkin is cut to only 1/4 inch depth.

Thanks Quinn, stem splits are not the career ending injury that they used to be, when this technique is used.
