What is the best time of day to foliar feed

At dusk. The reason is because the stoma open more at night and would allow more nutrient uptake.

The best time (for me) is in the evening when the sun is just going down. Not only is it the time when foliar feeding was recommmended to me, but you will also avoid spraying anything on your leaves in the full sun that could result in burning.

Ok , thanks a lot. I’m also considering washing my leaves down a couple hours prior to feeding. I don’t overhead water my plants, I do all my watering under the canopy. Every few days I water down the leaves to clean the dust off. I live in the country, we get winds and they get dusty. Is this a good thing to do or not?

Do what Glenn and tanner said feeding.

I know a couple of the top guys that are trying the rising thing this year. Spray that night then first thing in the morning wash down all the leaves. It seems to be really helping the leaves stay healthy.

I was told several years ago to foliar in the early morning,
as at night the leaves may not completely dry, increasing the
powdery mildew problem---does that sound right?

It does sound right but must of the guys foliage feeding at night are also using a heavy pm routine so powdery mildew is always in check.

Yes, So.Cal.Grower is 100% correct. I’m pre-treating for disease and am not worried about PM. Foliar feeding about 1/2 hour before sundown is what I was advised, that’s what I do.

Thanks for the input everyone, before dark it is. I don’t have to worry about pm around here we have a dry climate.

We try to cool the plant down and get the stoma to open by briefly overhead watering just around sunset. Then hit em with the mist blower foilar spray. It seems to help when the temps have been running 90 to 100 all summer and dosent cool off below 70 until 3 or 4 AM.

So.Cal is correct also use a preventitive PM schedule rotating products to keep PM in check
