Weight off is aug 17 on a Friday. It is pre registration by early July. It is non gpc

What is the point of pre-registration? I would understand for high volume contests like art or photography, but pumpkins cannot be that hard to manage in August in the South. Now, October in the northeast could be more complicated because of the increased volume of contestants.
