I Big Thanks goes out to Lack LaRue our "Boots on the Ground" for the GPC to assist in verifying the new WR Tomato grown by Dan Sutherland. Jack dropped everything he was doing and drove 7 hours over to Walla Walla. There he met up with Dan and they waited till the next day to weigh since all stores were already closed...Jack was to assist in the verification of a new World Record. The GPC would like to thank both Dan and Jack for their professionalism, cooperation, and going the extra mile to make sure everything was done to meet WR criteria for Guinness Records.

Whenever possible the GPC will assist in the verifications of new records given enough advanced notice to arrange for boots on the ground.

I hope I didnt offend anyone. I expected that confidentiality was a prime requirement. When you invite a person to your private area...it should stay stay private. I trust Jack...but i made the post so the growers know..that should they be in the same situation...that they should trust the GPC.

I still have to email you eddy...you are months behind on developments.

Thank you everyone for all of the kudos. It was a real pleasure to meet Dan Sutherland and have the honor of verifying his new world record tomato. What an awesome accomplishment. Dan is a super nice guy who followed the GPC rules to the letter. He notified the GPC president well in advance that he may have a new world record tomato. The GPC president contacted me and asked if I would be willing to drive to Walla Walla on the behalf of the GPC to verify Dan’s tomato.
Bnot, no offence taken. Thank you for bringing your question forward. In my opinion you are right, growers need to know that as a GPC representative what I see and hear will remain confidential. My personal code of ethics is that I respect all growers’ requests. If they wish to keep information to themselves that is exactly what I will do. When called on to verify an entry I am there to verify that the entry meets all GPC rules. I am not there to investigate the grower’s techniques. I am a guest, as a guest what I see or hear remains confidential. It is up to the grower to share the information that he/she wants to share, not me.
I made a promise to Dan Sutherland to keep everything that I saw in regards to his growing technique confidential.
