Hello, I’m looking to buy a moisture meter that’s accurate and doesn’t break the bank.

Any recommendations?

P.s. I tried a cheap one ($10) from amazon but it didn’t work , so I had to sent it back.

Thanks in advance
Joe

Hey Joe, the cheap ones from Canadian Tire or Home Depot for houseplants will do the trick and not break the bank. The rest of them that other growers use (agricultural and field grade) are pretty pricey.

I’m curious, I use a drip tape system.
Where do you place your moisture meter, midway between 2 tapes?

Hi, I just use a pond pump with a hose attached (like a garden hose) and push the meter into the soil where it’s was wet from the day before.
( Just prior to watering time)

Quiet honestly I don’t know where to put it using drip tape... but midway between the 2 lines sounds reasonable to me

Ive got a sensor about 9 inches deep about 3 inches away from a drip tape port/hole.You have to move it around depthwise and distance to find a useful location for data as you water.
