I’ve noticed my pumpkin seems to have higher gains after TKO being put on and then slows down the next few days. Could I do any harm if I move to an every 3-4 day application versus once a week? Or maybe I need to apply more at a time? Currently I’m doing 3.5 tsps for 2 gallons and each plant is getting the 2 gallons once a week. They are also getting other ferts/compost tea during the week. Thoughts?

I am not saying this is the only way to use it, but I believe its strong stuff you need to be careful with
(Ron Wallace)Per the label DO NOT use surfactants or adjuvants in with TKO. Early in the season, the drench rate on TKO is 1/4 ounce per gallon of water. A tablespoon is 1/2 ounce so 1 tablespoon will added to a standard 2 gallon watering can. From mid June till mid September we apply TKO at 3-5 ounces per 1,000 sq ft as a foliar application, depending on tissue test results we could also add 0-0-25 from Growth Products to this. Last year after test results I was adding 2 ounces per 1,000 sq ft of 0-0-25 along with 3 ounces per 1,000 sq ft of TKO every 10-14 days depending on weather and pumpkin growth.

Agreed with baitman, I would not mix it that strong especially if you want to increase how many days you apply. Mix weaker and apply more often sounds like a good idea. Also, TKO is very effective as a foliar applied spray, the plants seem to love it. I like many of the Growth Products mixes, they are great and the garden loves it.

As another point of reference I dug out Tom Privatera Fert program. He recommended TKO diluted 1 oz per gallon applied as a foliar weekly. So Britt is diluted at about a third of what was recommended in this reference.

surfactants and adjuvants are additives like dish soap, crop oil, and other emulsifiers that help your desired nutrient/chemistry stick to the plant leaves more effectively.
If you are seeing notable growth spurts following TKO app, its possible you are responding to a phosphorous deficiency. Did you run a soil test this spring and if so, where were your phos levels?
