First year trying this, so far I have learned a lot of things and have a lot of questions. I have been researching the hell out of this topic and have seen people cover their stump with plastic to keep it dry. Is this a recommended practice or somebody trying something new?

I use the bottom of a 40 gallon barrel. Put 4 legs on it to act as a canopy. Keeps it dry but still alows air circulation. Easy and works great.

Thanks fellow growers. I will cut the bottoms out of some Purina molasses lick tubs and build a roof over my stumps.

Pvc pipe and some plastic works well, then the stumps get some sun as well

Sorry im nee but why keep them covered? Is it mainly a dampness thing from too much rain, or a sun exposure problem.
