Please take a look at my Diary for Photos and let me know what you think. Most of the plant is very healthy. The leaf issue is not 100% confined to just the shaded area. I've culled a bunch of leaves (30ish) and put the Daconil to everything else. The photo is how the plant looked this morning. Is there anything else you would advise? Something that I am missing? I'm thinking of taking a few more leaves off. Thanks guys and gals, Chris

Looks kinda like old leaves. Are the ones you cut off the oldest leaves?

Yes they are the oldest leaves, and that was my first thought as well. I just thought that it seemed so darn early to be loosing leaves to old age?

There are a lot of factors in how long the leaves last but one important one is how often they wilt. They seem like they last longer on plants with good roots. But thats just one of many factors... But try to keep em perky.

60 to 90 days is probably normal... Anyone else want to take a swing at what is a normal leaf lifetime?

So I have hit the plant with a Fungicide and removed the not so good looking older leaves. Plant looks happy and healthy as much as can be expected. The question now is....Do you try to fill those areas back in with foliage? Tertiary vines laying on top secondaries. My thought would be yes, and to keep the tertiary origin fork as close to the main as possible. Sure, it will likely cost some nutrition to the set pumpkin now. I do however think that the benefit of fresh leaves pushing the plant in late August to September will be beneficial.
