I terminated the main of my 1807 fruit. Makes for much easier vine positioning. The tradeoff is losing the "pushing power" in late season growth by losing the hormone producing growth tip.

My way around that was by keeping the secondary growing at the base of the fruit. If you train the secondary attached to fruit stem growing all season, it will take over as the new "main vine" even though it is just a secondary, it's still pushing water past the fruit. My reasoning behind doing this was to ensure all growth on plant, even the growth after the fruit, is stil BEHIND the fruit.

The way my fruit is set up in my small patch it would be easier for me to term the main. I would leave the secondary at the fruit keep growing. Thanks guys. Hayden - your squash plants look amazing. Good luck.

As long as secondary at fruit is growing there should be no issues as far as growth hormone continuing to be produced all season long is concerned. Cut main right up to fruit stem, 1/4th inch. Cover with sulphur and a fan until completely dry
