Hey All, Can anyone tell me where I can buy a giant pumpkin tape measure? Also we are looking for rings and straps, any recommendations on where to get those?

I use a 100 foot reel tape, you can also use it to mark out distances between plants, new patches etc, plus then your not joining tapes together where you have to do extra math, lol I get confused easy enough. If you use one of those landscaping tapes like that, I tape the metal end up in some electrical tape so not to scratch the pumpkin.

I don't think Lee sells rings anymore. On the equipment for sale board there is a line titled Jim's lifting rings, maybe that will help. Peace

Yep. For me a poly line is the way to go. Worked great last year. I use greenlee poly line 210 lb. It can be crimped daily or weekly to record the growth and it holds the crimp marks on the line all season so it’s a foolproof way to document the growth. It picks up small fluctuations in growth very well if taped to the pumpkin so that it’s measuring in the exact same place every day. I pull it off and run it out along a metal tape measure to see the actual numbers.

FYI: It’s a braided line that I use not a single filament... I don’t think a fishing line or weed weedwhacker line would work so well.

Smallmouth, the tape Mike is talking about is not metal, it's poly or nylon, on a reel. Like this. https://m.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-100-ft-Long-Tape/4667541 I use the same thing, works good

I make my own by folding duct tape in half lengthwise and mark 5 inch increments on it. This stays loosely around the kin so I can quickly measure without crawling around and over the kin. They work well in the patch but can't be used for official purposes, obviously

I have an extra Lee lift ring that I am needing to sell. comes with all the straps. It lifted the McConkie 1974 no problem last year. It is really heavy so not sure what shipping would cost.
