How long does eveyone wait before burying the vine?

Do you bury it as soon as their is enough to bury, or do you left it grow a foot or two first or just untill there is a secondary coming off of it. Fyibi will likey just partial bury

Let the secondary’s grow at least 5 inches then bury. You may stunt it if you bury them

ps---i DO believe that you need to make a grower diary, if not already and SAVE whatever picture you are trying to upload to your desktop or a specific folder on you computer and then SELECT it from there for the picture submission; i believe it has to be a .jpg (picture) file---'here's my diary', new style or old, 'here's my text', that you've already been doing, and 'here's my selected picture'; submit.
' and ' = these are my thoughts as i make an entry, lol---

Rick, look at the diaries, you will see how it’s done. In my patch, we pay more attention to getting the secondaries covered when secondary rooting appears. If rooting appears on the upper part of the vines, we cover that too.

I want to wait for the males to get a few inches tall just in case they are needed... Dont want to bury them. I'm interested to hear other opinions.

I am usually about a week behind where i want to be..so usually my growing tips are a few nodes ahead of my burying. This seems to work out for me..by the time my node is buried the internodal length is full size.

I don’t bury until they lay down - have to be cautious cause they’ll snap. After that, Depends on soil and weather. My plants have been in 90-100 temps daily since early May and are moving very fast. They also throw tap roots fast, so I can’t afford to wait 2 days once they star running or I’ll be snapping tap roots when trying to bury\situate them in right direction.

We are usually so far behind we just bury when we can.... usually it goes like this, fix up a batch of trench mix in a 5 gallon bucket after work. Have a glass of wine, prune all the plants every day (tertiaries) sp wine)) and then bury one plant a night in rotation so basically it takes a week to go around the entire patch

I'll throw some dirt on the nodes as soon as the vine is touching the ground. If the secondary is real short Ill still put some moist dirt on the otherside of the vine and will cover it more a few days later the next time I go through the plant. I'm gonna try to keep the dirt mounds moist by using a watering can on the newly coved vines .7 to 10 days to get that top root safely established

Just like cojoe here. Goodies under each node ( and I go deep, like 8" or more ), lightly cover the top,,, then the pain in the butt part because I'm in a warm greenhouse,,, lightly watering each node I've covered for the next 7 to 10 days. They dry out within 24 hours.
Works beautifully but sure is time consuming.

lightly covering, warm greenhouse, lightly watering; i wonder if this is a new job for Saran Wrap---i know it's InSAnE, but if 2 lengths of it were attached at the start of the vine with 2 green pegs each or around a bamboo stake each and stretched to the end of the vine, ensuring that it'll be long enough, and clasping it together between the leaves to mostly-enclose the new vine-burying mix that has hopefully been SATURATED for the long haul, you could: 1. not have to water nodes every 24 hours; 2. visibly see if they need watering; 3. extend the wrap along with the length of the vine; 4. re-use the wrap next year and 5. have the neatest-looking plant in your greenhouse. PLUS, you could try it on one vine and see how it goes. anywhere BUT in a greenouse, wind would be a problem. no, i have not done this, but it'd be as cheap and easy as covering nodes with pots of soil otherwise. i WILL be trying that for fun---eg
