It looks like it is starting on the new leaves. I can see the yellow on the tips of the new growth.

Need some manganese. Spray with Epsom salt should help

Yep looks like a manganese defciency also could be compounded by too much water

Not manganese, it´s magnesium (anyway, epsom salts would be the right choice). However, it´s surprising to see so much of yellow so suddenly. Are you growing more than this one plant (in the same or similar soil), and do all of them show this yellowing? Sometimes it´s in the genetics of a plant. That could mean that even in case of abundant magnesium the plant could have an issue with magnesium uptake etc. (caused by its genetics), and troubles with magnesium uptake and nitrogen uptake can also be caused by excessive watering.

Gads, did the boys up there teach you this looks like manganese,,, maybe Jim or Daleats? lol

Pumpking is dead on and that's what I would do. Spray and drench the Epsom salts.

That was a joke Gads,,,, I had to put that out there because it seems the past few years people have been getting less and less of a sense of humor.:)

To be optomistic maybe your plant has such exceedingly good calcium uptake its just forgetting to grab anything else.
I have to wonder how much water has your plant has recieved lately? Maybe it will like some drier weather!

The weather in NY has been very wet this year. I will spray and drench with the suggested Epsom salts.

I have two other plant's growing in the same soil. They are still just baby plants, but so far, they look fine. I'm glad I got them in last week. Just in case its a genetic thing, and I have to pull the big one.

Thanks for the reply's,
Wally

I forgot to ask :
How much of the Epsom do I put in a one gallon sprayer
How much do I put in the watering can

I plan to hit the plant with both, when I get home today, at around 4 PM
Thanks.

Are you using bifenthrin ? That can cause yellowing of the leaves.

At the risk of getting chastised I don't think it's a deficiency. I've seen it here in certain genetic lines. Occasionally plant will end up being sterile but some outgrow it. Not recommending you pull yours. Treat it the same as the others or get a tissue test done.

I find on my plants it's usually to cold and wet when they yellow like that.

With cold rain recently here mine are getting it... At first I thought it was because the water washes the nutrients out of the soil but it cant be that our recent rain here was not enough to wash anything down past the root zone. Maybe its just lack of transpiration cold wet weather does this to them. Warm dry weather will cure it... Not sure ferts can cure it but probably wont hurt either. But I've not found the magnesium sulfate foliar application to be a miracle cure... maybe I need to apply more and apply it to the roots.

I have a plant right now that is doing something similar.

We had a similar problem, it's not a magnesium problem, it's manganese; Epsom salts are Mg not Mn, so they won't do anything. Spray with chelated Mn and you will see results within a week. Do you have high pH soil?

So if both manganese sulfate and magnesium sulfate correct the problem... then really it’s the sulfate which is correcting the problem? Because that’s what those two different substances have in common.
