We are in the process of buying a 45-55 hp tractor. Narrowed the brands down to Kubota and Kioti. Looking for thoughts and opinions on them. Couldn't think of a better resource of people to ask! Thank you for the comments. I look forward to reading them!

I have a Kioti and a John Deere. Kioti can be difficult to get parts & service. My local dealer was actually eleminated a few years back & not I have to take it to a place which is hours away. I love my John Deere.

A neighbor of mine whom would never use anything but the best has a Kubota and seems to love it---also, it's probably a standard item, but be sure to get LIVE PTO. eg

Curious as to why JD is not on your list. I have or have had most of the major brands on our horse farms and I would go for a Deere hands down when looking for an agricultural tractor. They're as dependable as any and parts are readily available. My two Kubota's are tough and they are also dependable, but I have been down for as long as a month waiting for parts to come from overseas. Dealers stock the inexpensive and most often needed parts but anything else might result in an extended wait. No experience with Kioti.

JD is not on the list due to the cost, equivalent size tractor and HP is $4-5,000 more than Kubota.
Ontop of that the difference from engine HP to PTO HP is much greater for the Deere than the other brands.

Have had several different tractors over the years. Our JD is hands dow n a superior machine. Although the Cub Cadet was a close second just didnt like the loader design.

I have a Mahindra and love it. I was stuck between the JD and the Mahindra. I went with the Mahindra due to dealer being closer to my house.

I have a 25 year old John Deere and it still runs the same as when new. I have done nothing other than routine maintenance. Love it.

I think in this day and age, it is hard to pinpoint a tractor that is the best, because all the companies are trying to increase their profits at the expense of quality. I would meet the tractor dealers in your area and go with the one that you like best. You only buy a tractor once and you will be dealing with servicing the tractor for many, many years. It is good to do business with honest people who you can get along with. 15 years ago I bought a case tractor from a local dealer over a kubota,John Deere, New Holland or Massey Ferguson . I chose the case dealer because he was the closest dealership to me and most importantly he was the guy I liked the best. Everyone in my area recommended the "Case" guy and I knew he would be good to work with.

The tractor I bought was a 45 horse Hydrostatic 4 wheel drive. I love the hydrostatic transmission, I am glad I got it.

Go with the Kubota over the Kioti. Kioti may be cheaper now, but the shipping costs on parts will make up the difference quick should you have problems. BTW, when I was shopping for tractors, I found the JD and the Kubota to be very competitive in price.

I did some shopping around last year and found similar results as Sue, fairly even priced. Go with one that has reputable dealer close to you, between the 2 I would say Kubota they have been building compact textures for years.
