Ma.

Hey folks.

Last week George and I met with James O'Brien to discuss the prize money for this years weigh off. At that time we told Jamie that we needed to step away from our obligations as co-chairs of the Topsfield Fair weigh off We are unable, at this time, to fulfill our commitments due to my illnesses. We are meeting with my transplant team on June 13 to start the process. This involves lots of testing means lots of appointments in Boston. Our focus has to be on the transplant. At that time we called Woody to let him know that we were had to step down from our positions as associate directors of NEGPGA and the GPC site coordinators for the same reasons. Our resignation will be effective June 8, 2018. We decided to do this now, so you would have plenty of notice to ensure there is adequate time to replace the 2 vacant positions on the NEGPGA board of directors.

I think you al must know how heartbreaking this is for me. I love being a part of this and we will continue to as we are able. We have been involved for so many years and have always tried to do our best to make the association the best it could be and to promote the hobby. We have made the best of friends through this wonderful hobby of giant pumpkin growing who we will remain in touch with for ever. George is growing and will see you all at the scales. I will see you too if I am able. Best of luck to all this growing season.

Fondly,
George and Mary Ann Hoomis

To George and Mary Ann I wish you both success, peace and happiness and a very big THANKYOU for all you both have done for the Association. My prayers go out to you Mary Ann that the Lord will take care of you with a successful transplant, you have been patient, understanding and have suffered long enough where your reward should be right around the corner. Good people have good things happen to them your time is here. Thank You again for all your service dedication and time it is very much appreciated by me and I am certain by most other growers. GOODLUCK George with your growing, I hope you surpass your wildest dreams this year and Mary Ann I will have you in my prayers always and I wish you nothing but the best because you are the best.

To my special friends George and Mary Ann Hoomis

When the topsfield weighoff (negpga) is discussed in Rhode Island three names comes first to mind-

Hugh Weiberg
Mary Ann Hoomis
and
George Hoomis

While others have distinguished themselves for sure, you cant beat what maryann and george have contributed since the passing of Hugh.they have done it so well, for so long, its sad that these circumstances exist.

we owe them both all our love and prayers, especially you Mary Ann. you are truly loved by many.

Cathy and i will be thinking of you in our thoughts and prayers. you guys are truly part of the pumpkin family in New England. Always will be.

I've always felt that it is not the pumpkins that make this hobby great it is the people growing them and George and Mary Ann are the very best example of this.
