My plant is still very young only about a foot long the side vineslook like a ball of yellow flowers that have not matured. The side vines are also not growing. Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?

It could be a nutritional issue or its an off-type genetically...Try a balanced natural fertilizer and keep the soil moisture correct and consistent. If you know your soil is good then it sounds like a root problem. Possibly the roots are not healthy.

Sounds like the secondaries maybe stunted for some reason, pluck them off and throw a little sulfur on it. Let the main get established and see how things go.

Thx I know I have a serious nitrogen problem that I’m trying to correct so it might be that

I checked and the main vine node I can see a lot of flowers so I think it’s lack of nitrogen

Its almost certainly not just a nitrogen issue. But that could be part of the issue. Try a balanced natural fertilizer or dare i say a standard chelated fertilizer with some micronutrients. . . Like miracle grow.

This is the same plant as the double vine plant? Its normal for double vines to make extra males and not put out good side vines. Lol sometimes luck is what matters...

They usually will kick in very late once the main and most other secondaries have been terminated or around the time tertiary growth starts. I leave them on and let them grow late if needed.

I don't know what causes this. I've had it happen in the past, where the first few sidevines didn't grow well and/or terminated into a cluster of small male flowers. Eventually the plant put out normal sidevines further down the mainvine, and seemed to grow normally after that. I'm no expert, but I think the advise about using a balanced fertilizer sounds good.
