Did you mean short leaves or small or both? I like the short trait. . . Does anyone know if this is dominant or recessive? Have any 2k pumpkins been off a short-leaf-stalk plant? Any info would be helpful. Thank you.

Those are some shorties and look easy to maintain. I have no idea how that affects weight. I grow in shade and have leaves every year well over 4 feet tall, and my weights are minimal compared to most on here.

Small leafs short stalks kinda goes hand and hand. The first thought is BIG Crown Big Leafs Big Vines Big fruit. My 2043 had the smallest stem of all my pumpkins over 1500 lbs.The leafs were average. I hate a plant with big leafs. Its much harder to weed them. This small leaf, vine, crown plant is throwing back to the 1495 Stelts from the 1625 & 1317 grandparents. So Im hoping it also carry's the heavy genetic trait also.I dont think enough 2000 lb pumpkins have been grown to prove any theory's yet.40 or so have been grown.Plus define small & big leafs? You would get different definitions from each grower as there growing experience maybe 1 sided depending on what plants they have seen.

If you have a small leaf & tall stalk its reaching for the light most likely. Take the plastic off your hoop house

Interesting. Thanks. Most plants are 'normal' but the yeah the heavy kins on a smaller stature plant seems to show up in the 1495.

There is certainly variation based on the environment. When growing a lot of plants some of the genetic variations are noticeable also.
