Ok guys I’m just going to say it I f*** up I killed three seeds and I thought I killed the fourth when I pulled it out to give it one last check before I threw it out there was a root and it snapped when I pulled it. Please tell me if the root will keep growing even though I snapped 3/4 it was only about 1/4 a inch long

Thanks guys I think what I’m going to do is let it grow and compare it to the ones I just started when they sprout whatever ones are the healthiest and most vigorous I will plant

Abomb, that’s what I’d do. Let it grow and compare to backups you start “tonight”. Good luck

i had wanted to announce this on here at some point, that the roots that come out from the sides of the initial root normally will strive to do just that---just give it a few days to prove it---eg

Pumpkin pal I will definitely inform everyone about how it turns out but I’m interested in what you meant on your last post do you think it will grow more roots because of this? By the way the seed was the 1949 paton and I have another one that I started a day after that one to compare it to

Not sure where you live but there are usually growers that will have several back up plants around you. You might have to drive an hour or two but most growers start a bunch of seeds because we usually F*** some up....

all i know is that i sprouted the seed in a new weigh, with just the tip sticking up outta the seed-starting mix 1/8 of an inch; New New New! had a dosing cup from cough medicine over the 'area' to prevent drying-out; this is to see the radicle tip as SOON as possible and then i pluck the seed outta the ss mix and just turn it over and put it back in = done. however, i dropped the seed on the countertop. radicle tip broken. found little tip, so sad...but, alas! i just turned the seed soilward and about 3 days max. later, she's actin' like any other seedling; too bad it's been disposed of, but it MAY have grown taller faster because i'd think it's growing roots outward rather than downward at first. try it on a test seed in the meantime---i mean, intentionally break off the !SPROUTED! radicle tip---mine had about 1/8" or less left, but it worked, so---good luck! and with a 1949, yeah, keep it.

Help Needed!! I've been trying to grow g pumpkins for four years now. Last year got 4th place with one. This year is no different from past 4. I am having trouble starting seeds. I follow big pumpkins help and help from Hobbit. I sand paper, soak and place soil mix in heat chambers set between 79 and 85 degree's. Soil mix just right not wet nor dry and pre warmed in chambers for 24 hrs. Both 1461 Carrier and1586 Lyons did not germinate as of 5/5- planted on 5/2. Replaced both with Jarvis 1629 and Wallace 1733 on 5/6. The Kline 1877 (5/2) has germinated with a inch /half root, but has not sprouted after 5 days. The 1629 Carrier (5/2) has germinated with a 1/4 inch root only after 5 days. I've read where folks have sprouted after 3 to 4 days. What do I do different? Suggestions?

If you only waited 3 days that is not enough, mine usually start pushing up soil closer to day 4
