Okay now that almost everyone has started their plants and the dreaming has begun.

What is your guess for how many pumpkins will be over 2500 pounds and how many will be over 2000 pounds?

Eggs over easy. This could have been, and can still be, a contest for a top seed plus some cash. I'll put up a 443.5 Gerry (1207 Young X 1421.5 Stelts), lol---Now, I've gotta get my own seed over 1600 + ORANGE for any interest in it and how would 'we' account officially for the accurate #s of the determining fruits, and by WHEN. Maybe next year.
oh, just an idea, as EVERYTHING WAS @ one time.

pumpkinpal...When I grow the Kansas record I'll send my seeds to the top 3 guesses...also my wife makes some of my shirts and I'll send one to the closest guess.

Now all I need to do is grow the Kansas record in our crazy weather.

Sandkin.. You really thinking someone will break the 3000# Mark this year? I think its going to be a tough season and someone will have a fruit blow up due to, to much rain. I've got a bad feeling about mother nature this grow season, wet wet wet some places. Good luck to us all. Slow and steady keeps em growing.

I don't think anything comes close to 3000. I say 18 over 2000 and 1 comes close to 2500

The perfect growing (indoor envirinments) for DAGs are being created by several top notch growers this season and bear no expence. Wish them the bezt and believe these few folks will hit 2000 to 2300. Personally I think AGs are wild things and do best in the open environment after fruit set. So predict, 1 over 2400, 2 @ 2300, 12 @ 2000. (Who really knows), depends on mother nature a lot!

After many years of sitting on the sidelines I can say there are basically two ingredients necessary to grow a 3000 pound pumpkin.

1) Someone to say there will be a 3000 pound pumpkin.
2) At least one person to say no way there will be a 3000 pound pumpkin.

What is for certain is that there will be a lot of orange pumpkins.

I suspect 2,624 stands as the record for another year, then gets smashed by something north of 2,800 in 2019. Probably grown on the 2150 x 2095 cross that I'm trying to make this year.
