AS THE 2018 SEASON FAST APPROACHES THE QUESTION IS ? WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL GOALS & EXPECTATIONS?
MINE ...... TO HELP RON ATTAIN A THIRD WORLD RECORD.TO REMEMBER THOSE WHO ARE NO LONGER WITH US AND,TO CONTINUE HELPING IN NEED CHILDREN.
SOME MAY BE STILL STRIVING FOR THAT FIRST 1,000 POUNDER, SOME THAT PERFECT BEAUTY, SOME TO WIN THEIR LOCAL WEIGH-OFF OR, TO JUST MAKE IT TO A WEIGH-OFF.
IN ANY EVENT I WISH ALL OF YOU AND YOURS THE VERY BEST THIS SEASON, IN HEALTH AS WELL AS THE GARDEN.

I'd be happy If I can get my greenhouse up before I outgrow my hoop houses. Then just learn the ins and outs of growing in a greenhouse.

I really want the UK squash record. If my 1844 Holub had gone green last year I would have had the European record too. Ho-hum. A 1500lb pumpkin would be nice too; keep pushing the boundaries for outdoor growing in the UK.

hmmm..two months ago it would have been to grow the biggest pumpkin, watermelon, tomato, carrot, green pepper, cucumber that I have ever grown. Plans are changing.. now my focus will be to grow something else...stay tuned for September 2019. I think I might have some small fruit this year.

My goal is to grow my first 1000 pounder. I came really close last year when I grew one 957lbs only to lose it 3 weeks before my weigh off to soft spots. In a perfect world is like to be the first Canadian to grow a ton...lol. I can dream

My goal is to get in the top three at Stillwater this year. Hopefully the first 2000 pounder out of Minnesota! With the weather and all the new adventures I'm doing this year it will be tough. But if you don't try...than it's no fun!

One goal that has eluded us is to get a ride on the float in the Anamosa Pumpkinfest parade, top 3 or 4, depending on how big of a trailer they get. I missed it by just one place 2 years ago.
Another goal is to break my state long gourd record, maybe even give the world record a try.
Jacob and I want to break the state field pumpkin record and grow a 200#+ bushel gourd. We have some new ground that has been in grasses and legumes for over 30 years for them this year. And we want to get at least 1 Howard Dill award. And a personal best watermelon would be nice too. We just need to get the weather to cooperate. The snow coming tomorrow won't help much.

Our expectations are for growing to continue to be fun and something that we are passionate about. I’d love 3 fruit to get me a new jacket and a 4000 lb patch and would also be thrilled with being the first Canuck over 2000 lbs. Mostly, I’d like my good buddy Scott (Spambie) to pass me the coveted trophy he just got from Jake van Kooten, then I’d like to be able to pass the trophy to our other buddy Dave (Richmond Dave) the next year.

Jake, seeing your setup and knowledge, you got this. Biggest limiting factor is climate which you look to have under control.
I have no expectations personally, 10 minute season ending hail\wind storms and BESs are expected. I’d really just like to have something in October with my 3 kids fighting next to.

Jane & I won't be growing AG's this season. Soil needs a rest. We will have a couple watermelon plants in our greenhouse though, so breaking the Canadian record on Marv Mitchell's seed would really make our year.

I would like to grow my first 1,000 pound pumpkin. Not sure if they still make the Half Ton Pumpkin Club patch, but I would like to be eligible for one.
I would also like to get a tomato past my 5.33 lb. personal best.
Grow a 1 lb. pepper, and get a 19/20 cucumber.
Not sure how well I will do, but it should be fun trying.

I'm with you 73Pounder. Last year was my first year with store bought seeds. Learned a lot from this sight and great people willing to help. First goal is to kill my personal best of 75 lbs. With the improved soil, and great seeds, I'm hoping for 500 pounder. Same with tomatoes....anything I get over a pound will be a personal best. Should be a monumental year.

I want to grow a 75 pound giant cabbage.
I want to grow a 2150 pound+ pumpkin.
So basically I want to be the pumpkin queen and rule the world.

this year marks my 2cd official grow. Last year I broke the 800 pound mark.. this year I'm pushing myself,, the plants, and some luck. And hoping to smash,., no pun intended.. the Wisconsin state record. Which would be amazing on a second year,,"amature". To giant pumpkins. But 17 inches of snow 2 days ago doesn't help either along lake Michigan.
