If you are a grower who is lucky enough to have a 2145 seed to grow this year, and if your even luckier to grow a fruit over 2,000 pounds, you can help advance pumpkin genetics! I need the growers who have the top 2145 plants to help me in my new propagation (cloning) project. If you end up being one of the growers with one of the heaviest fruits, you can be a part of an important breeding project I am hoping to implement this fall.

The goal is simple, a true breeding genetic which will have the potential to grow 2,000 pound fruit from each and every seed. This can be accomplished by utilizing one of the best genetics, keeping a cutting alive for multiple growing seasons, and self pollinating it with its original parent over several generations. By growing the seed from each generation of fruit and self crossing it with its original plant genetic, a true genetic line can be created. Seeds from this creation will all have the same genetics as one another, and anyone growing the seeds have potential to all grow 2,000 pound fruit every time.

That sounds pretty interesting Marc and I wish more people would do stuff with cloning. I'm half way there to help you with a 2145 seed. Now I just need a 2,000 pounder for ya. In the name of science, I'll do everything I can to achieve that. lol
