I heard that if you have a 2145 with a squiggle mark in the bottom right corner of the label its "from the better batch" What would this mean.

you can see an example of the two labels here

I think it means unlucky. I believe the british twins didn't get a good plant from any of those 2145 seeds.

the fonts are different, the 2nd m in Mcmullen is NOT capitalized in the ones WITH the squiggly, which appears to be a carved pumpkin, but i cannot make out the left side of the logo - that could be a club stamp like any club would have; one more > no second capital in the OTHER seeds as well (2624s)...flip everything over on an impartial countertop and look at them side-by-side; if all look exactly the same, don't sweat it, and clubs often get a bunch of seeds in from a grower and make their own labels for distribution, since they are geared for it more than most growers. i hope these ideas help.
i know you weren't thinking they were false or anything, and OMG, the crosses you will make will be outta the park! EG
hard to believe, that's about 3 THOUSAND dollars in seeds right there! the auction/growers could be asked just 4 fun.

If it germinates it will have the same potential as any other. Currently one cannot predict if a viable seed has any more potential than another.

Gene had mentioned to me at one time that they had to make several batches of labels. This is why some labels are different. But if any body is concerned about this, please send them to me and I will let you know at the end of the season.

Ok I just did some detective work the Squiggly line is Cory Wiebels logo as he printed the labels for Gene.I do believe as Moby mike said the seeds are all equal in quality. With all pumpkin seeds its the luck of the draw on what you get.Ya get what ya get & ya don't throw a fit per Ma Ma BUBBA!

Rick i will ride to half moon bay with you, since i will not need to take my 2626 out there with your 2700. Chris could probably give us a Cali Tour after you guys tie and split the purse. i promise to pitch in for gas to at least the Rockies. This brings to mind a separate but related topic. As the sucker who manages the auction in my club we have to deal with this from time to time. Sometimes a grower will send us seeds for an auction but not enough actual "official" printed labels for them. We may get them in a ziplock with the weights written right on the seed, and then we divide this into separate lots. Sometimes we have an unequal number of seeds from each pumpkin the grower grew, and so we have to make do with what we get. The point is, we try to be as honest and upfront about it as we can. If the packaging has my handwriting on it, it's only because this was the situation!

Better Batch ?????????????? to funny !!!

The first 100 packs were labels that Chris W. did for me, he put his logo on the label cw with a pumpkin ,which I thought was pretty neat, I did not think the seeds would be in such demand that I needed more any more labels but I was wrong and I was able to do my own labels thus the 2 labels, I always capitalize the 2nd M in my name, but I did give Rick extras , so any 2145's from him are the real deal.
Hope this clears things up and I apologize for any confusion

Gene

Ahhh, the Wisdom of the Crowd. I don't watch the TV show or subscribe to the idea, but, if I'm gonna be a part of any crowd, i guess it'll be of giant pumpkin growers because eventually, whatever IT is, the bottom of it is gotten-to.
