To the Vancouver Island growers (and I know a lot of you lurk here) there will be a GPC Giant Pumpkin Weighoff Starting in October 2018.

Weighoff site will be The Old Farm Market on the Island Highway in Duncan, BC. We are doing our best to get sponsorship and Weighoff prizes, it appears that the Community is very receptive and already sounds like a fun Event.

More details to follow.

If all the Island growers can sprout an extra seedling or 2 and give them to friends and family to grow, we can bring Giant Pumpkin Growing back to Vancouver Island in a big way.

Leslie, Dave, Geraldine and Art and the rest of their volunteers, ran the Vancouver Island Weighoff when I was just getting into growing (in 2004) and it was a fantastic event and was the only real Giant Pumpkin Event in our Province at the time.

Hey North Shore make sure you run this by your local GPC representative, Gary Miller and the GPC board. Every site has to be approved through the proper channels.

10-4 Tree Doctor, thanks for the heads up. When my wife and I started the Weighoff in Vancouver, we were welcomed with open arms, encouraged and supported very nicely by all those involved with the GPC. Should be the same, maybe we can chat at Convention or sit down with Gary to ensure we get our site approved for 2018.
