Any one in Iowa know of a seed supply store that would carry mustard seed? I’m from Northwest Iowa and didn’t know if bomgaars or a local farm and home would carry it. I don’t really want to buy online because of high postage cost. Thanks!

Kibster I would get it from Ron Wallace on his web site. Nothing on shipping, fast service and he has the right kind of Mustard seed.

Seed dealers here don't sell mustard. They have other brassica's that help some but not as much as mustard. My wife got me some mustard seed from Wallace WOW for Christmas.

I was planning on growing the mustard cover crop this spring. Is there enough time in the spring to do it?

Not if you plan to get a pumpkin in the ground in time to get decent size if we get normal weather. April 1 would be about the earliest to plant, you would then need maybe 6 weeks of growth and a couple weeks rest time after tilling it in. You would not be getting your pumpkin planted until June. It would be OK if you want to give a patch a rest, maybe plant a late sweet corn patch after the mustard and have the stalks to till in in the fall to add organic matter.
