A Ben Franklin Federal Reserve Note for:
whoever grows the largest blossom down pumpkin...!!!
SPONSORED by Glenomkins
I will be growing all mine blossom down... Maybe growing just one maybe ten who knows.... I'm trying for 1000 next year... I'm sure someone could beat me.
Rules: Just post pics in your diary... maybe show how you got it blossom down (growing the vines over hay bales will be my method)... And for everyone who enters, and please be willing to share seeds with the other participants especially if you grow a real nice one...?
I'll post my specific recommendations for successfully growing blossom down in my next years (2018) diary in a few weeks...
Good luck--you will need it! Brandon

Brandon, just curious as to why? Is it just to produce a classic looking pumpkin? Peace, Wayne

I will be using vines that grow on a chicken wire fence. I have to put 2 fences up to keep my crazy cross JOL pumpkins away from AGs and all pumpkins from going into my neighbor's yard. Neighbor appreciate a nice JOL from me last year.

Peace, Wayne, Yes... I want to take my growing game to the next level. I think it helps draw interest from the public to have some blossom down pumpkins in the lineup at the weigh offs. It makes it visually more interesting...?
Pics of growing blossom down, Nana Rea, Dustin, the last two are mine:

Not sure what Dustin's would have weighed but he might have won it for this year if he had made it to scale. hopefully he's up for growing again next year...

1806 Mathison-- largest blossom down ever grown? Was it intentionally grown that way? I would like to know how the vines were dealt with.
I'm hoping for perfect shape and color too... but this contest will be for size. 1806 would be hard to beat but still I wish I could offer bonus prize for beating 1806... And I wish there was some way to give an award for the prettiest blossom downer too. Any ideas?!

I think it's gonna have to be more of an honorary thing it's really just about having fun.
