I love genetics i spend all winter looking for the next hot seed and I see many. So do you know what the problem is .? We don’t have enough growers if we harvest 100 to 200 seeds per pumpkin. And the top ten get grown that year then how many world record SEEDS never get grown. Try and at least grow one of your own. That’s how we need to go forward. We have lots to prove. Happy Holidays To You All Grow At Least 1 of your OWN

Damn right plant your own seed unless you have no faith in your own crosses and ideas. Happy thanksgiving !

I plan to use my seeds on half of my plants next year. I may not have any world record size potential, but I have some great crosses for big and orange.

LoL D & J, Dani and I grow 80 to 90 petcent our own seed. Just so tantalizing to grab the hottest ones and hope for a word record. Truth is it all starts with balanced soil and plant protection whether temps, bugs or stupidity.
No one would have grown our lowly 1405 but us, and it grew a 1748 that was 13% heavy and a 1203 (dmg) that was super thick..
Bottem line for us is grow your own, current genetics all have the potential for 2000 plus its the environmental and grower commitment / skill that are the limiting factors. Ok too much egg nogg.....

Agree... I think everyone should use one of their own or, alternatively, throw in an oddball seed just for fun. Sometimes it pays to roll the dice.

Last year was the first year that I used my own seeds.
Benefits...You have the pick of the best seeds of the cross you made...Can start more than one plant and chose the best...Doesn't cost you money waiting for a seed that wasn't grown in your area and hoping it doesn't get crushed in the mail! Go with your gut! You crossed these seeds for a reason!

This past year I had a 2145 and a 1689 Barron that I wanted to cross and did I had my 925 from the year before 1756 x 2145 not enough space for them all. The 925 got grown with field pumpkins what a shame it looked a lot like the 2145 long stem nice plant going to give that one a chance this year. I think it’s going to be a good one
