The 2363 Holland is on sale for $40 a seed .To help your club. buy a pair next year When this becomes the next (2145) Big KIN producer you can donate to your club as the price will shoot shy high. This would be a smart buy for the clubs to purchase themselves. 2 per grower. Have several members buy them. When the supply is gone the price will shoot sky high. What a great cross NEW north American record X Paps North American record I predict it will grow the next World record. Hopefully in my patch LOL CONGRATS TO JOEL!! Awesome Grow!!!

I think it's great that Joel is offering his seed to the average grower at an affordable cost. It would be nice if people respected the 2 seed limit & they aren't all bought for resale.

No Mr Clements (bubba) I think Mr Holland like Mr McMullan wants to get the best genetics into the hands of average growers at a reasonable price. I personally disagree with your jack the price up for personal gain policy. Its the gentle backyard family gardener that will expand or limit our future, Dont contribute to pricing this fine art out of the average Jane / Joes budget. Water and fert bills alone already run many off. Personally Dani and I give our seeds away to al who ask untill they are gone (minus personal stash for grow your own philosiphy).

The seeds are for sale....that is the point....to sell them. Everybody has a chance to buy them right now, so do it and stop complaining. If you don't buy one and their all gone that's your problem. You had your chance.
And one linage of seed does not put the hobby at a halt. Now if clubs can't raise money and can't afford to host a weigh off....that will put the hobby at a halt.

I bought two...because of Joel's site, was able to grow my very first year. Grew 580 pounds from the 1190 Holland in 2011. His site was the only place I could find giant pumpkin seeds in early May when I decided to grow. I did not yet know about this site. For the past 7 years, I have purchased many of Joel's fine products and have always had great customer service. I was really pleased to see him get back to the top of the grower world. I have no doubt next spring will be placing my annual order again to get the good stuff for next summer.

One thing to consider is that Joel stands to make a nice profit on this. If he has 500 seeds to sell, that's $20,000. I say that if he can get a good return on his investment without price gouging, more power to him. And he can get those seeds into the hands of a lot of growers all over the world. Help even the playing by letting the average grower get access to the best seeds. Don't limit it to those with the deep pockets.

Guess I’m just cheap, $40 for a single (unproven) seed is too rich for my blood when there are lots of growers willing to share seeds for the cost of a bubble and a polite email or letter.

You bet there are Carl, and I know you are one of them.

Every year, I narrow down what I’d like to grow and I contact the grower, have a conversation, and request seeds. I always grow what is sent to me and pass on any extras to other growers that may want the same seed that I was lucky enough to be given.

We all know there are profiteers in everything we do in life, and pumpkin growing is no different. I wanted to grow a certain seed a few years back and the grower offered to sell them to me, but was offered free shipping...I declined and will never grow seeds from that grower ever.

Confusing, this is...YES! Joel & MaryLou are incredible growers offering up seeds at (what will probably be) less than auction prices. I commend them for that!! What I don't understand is Mark's recommendation for trying to take advantage of that offer, and encourage other's to do so. I would guess that...and may be wrong, Joel has offered to send seeds to different clubs, for the price of a bubbleope? Peace, Wayne

I sent a PayPal to buy one of the Hollands 2363 seeds, they sent it back and sent me one for price of postage.

I like to think its because not only do we use a lot of their awesome product every year we have also become friends over the years (even though they whoop us everytime we weigh off together).

Guess its not all about the money for everyone bubba...

Yes I give lots of seeds away also.Im a very generous person. But you must raise funds to have contests & prizes.Yes Henry to pay $40 for a seed that will sell for $400 in a year or two would be a good thing for a club to do. But these guys try to paint anything different into a bad thing. Its Ok I just let the bull roll off my back & move forward to the top of the mountain.Remember a lot of these guys are under the influence. A little drinky winky & everything is blurry lol.

Marley, the picture from July 22nd 2017 is of seeds from Jackson's 1317 x open cross. It isn't the 1317 itself. It's worded weirdly so I can see the confusion.

I guess I am, I went to holland's site & purchased my 2 seeds at very reasonable price, and I appreciate what Joel is doing. I am also very pleased w/the responses on this board/site/thread...whatever, that lot's of people are loosing respect for you, for asking folks to "buy out" all of the seeds, and stash them for personal or growing club gains!!!
