it is what it is

reasonable to any grower and now it is tagged as a BIG MONEY seed much to my dislike. They were hand out to any and everyone till I had no more. I would like to see it be in more raffles ,then to the deep pockets. Like if a club had a 2145 at their auction in a raffle say for ten bucks a pop and it is drawn at the end that might get the cash the club is hoping for and it would give more growers a chance at the seed and a dream, I have seen many auction night with 100 plus and it seems they would like to donate some thing to the club. Hell I would spend 10 bucks at a chance to win the seed back and if not it is a donation to the club.
Take this as NO disrespect to anyone or any club it is just my thoughts, as to those that have grown the 2145 THANKS !
Gene

That’s awesome!! Sad that you gave them all away and now people are making $500 $600 of them but awesome to know it started out as a free seed and now is one of the hottes seeds on the market.

Growing giants is heading in the wrong direction, time for some input and ideas before things get to out of hand, especially when dealing with seeds.

I'm not trying to judge the merits of the competive extremes of the sport, some folks are competetively focused and thats fine I don't want to encourage anything other than for people to have fun and make good choices. My posts not meant to further any positive or negative stigmas, actually I would like to decrease frustration, I certainly don't want to make it worse. I'm not frustrated myself, I'm staying away from the top seeds myself. Also I would note that Joel has offered his seed at, dare I say, a reasonable price... its not free but it looks like he is trying to be reasonable with it. Kudos to him.

Out of curiousity Gene, I noticed the 1546 you grew was pollinated by the 1756 Howell /Jolivette... and that no one grew this seed. This seed seems 100% worth a try, perhaps a good alternative to your generously distributed 2145...?

I paid like $535 for my 2145 at the Wisconsin auction.that grew "Big Bubbles" I had to bid against deep pockets to get it.It was a good investment.I will do it again if I can fit it in the budget.I just gave one to Ryan Cleveland he won in a seed giveaway at WWGG. I have 2 more 2145s in the Bubba vault.1 will be won Jan 1st & 1 will be won March 1st by a 2018 random member.I may not grow the 2145 in 2018 I want to grow my 2145 crosses . I think my 1279 will grow a monster ORANGE 1 ton kin 1317 X 2145. Thank you Gene for your generosity. The 2145 you gave me & I sent to Mathias grew the world(2016) record for a $35 membership. How cool is that???? Thanks again my friend

Gene, your generosity with the 2145 was unsurpassed, as I know you gave them all away and left none for yourself, and, as a club secretary and auctioneer, I would love to make your wish a reality. I'll discuss this with our committee, as I think it's a great idea.

I think the gist of Gene's post is that the 2145 was an affordable seed to anybody chasing the dream and he would like to see some be just that so people who cannot afford the big $ can with some luck chase that dream .
Gene ....I hope you get your dream!
