Very sorry to see your last diary entry. No matter what has happened in the past this is a very childish act and should not be tolerated by the general big pumpkin community.

It was clearly vandalism of some stupid and frustrated kids. Maybe they were drunk also. Owen should stop taking this personal. It is nothing against him. His Pumpkin was just on the wrong place at the wrong time i think..

No matter who did it this is a terrible thing Owen and I am sorry for you. Looking at the area it seems like a place that would have security cameras. Did you happen to check into that?

I do not what is going on here, my pumpkin was targeted, that much I know.
Kuerbisfreak has no idea, he is speaking from his own speculation without knowing any facts. He was not at the weigh off nor has he been to the exhibition.
Thanks Frank, exactly the fuel on the fire I need right now.
Yes it was a tall pumpkin, what is easy about knocking over something that weighs 1300 pounds? This took more then just 2 drunk juveniles.
No video cameras in that area. I talked to the sponsors today, next year they are "considering" putting the top 3 in a building.
Thank you to those that have even a small amount of idea how I feel.
To make one thing perfectly clear, I do not believe for a second that any organization had something to do with this. I believe I was a target of those that do not like foreigners.

Good lord, that's just sad, but knowing the human nature, and how I experienced similar things I knew something like that would happen.

I read an article somewhere about this very incident. No one individual was targeted. In this article which I will continue to look for showed a picture like the one Owen posted along with other pictures showing damage at the pumpkin fest. The article claim that there was a small riot that went through the are and that's what the damage was from. I'm certain Owen knows more than he's letting on. I'll find the story.

I now know what Hobbit is referring to.
That is a police announcement about the damage that was caused, they are looking for anyone that may have witnessed or have a lead to who did this. it happened in the evening of Friday after the Park was closed, they broke in and caused the damage. I am in contact with the police, have explained the worth of my pumpkin (I was selling it for 1000 Euro) and that because of the damage now I can't sell it.
As you can see in the picture my pumpkin was the only one knocked over. The other damage was done to a display of decoration gourds.
There was not a riot. They are referring to it as vandalism.

I have received a email that I should step back and look at this as if it was not my pumpkin.
Very hard to do, as all of us know we put in so many hours, never take vacation, ignore our spouses, dream of having that new personal best.
So, stepping back I can see that this may have been a random act of vandalism not directed towards me.
My soul wants to rip the eyes out of the predator.
What happened goes totally against what I believe in as a person.
Now I have the journey towards 2018, I have already sent the first of 3 post season soil tests (I have 3 tunnels) to the lab. Keeping busy will help.
I truly wish that everyone that still has a weigh off in front of them goes heavy and has a new PB.

This is it in German
Bitte teilen: Randalierer wüten auf Gartenschaugelände

Unbekannte verschafften sich in der Nacht Zutritt zu dem Areal, auf dem zurzeit eine Kürbis-Ausstellung stattfindet. You cannot use google to translate.
There was not a riot.
What do you want from me? My pumpkin was the one that was knocked over. I went to the police and reported the damage. The only pumpkin that was knocked over was mine.
I am not sure what you are trying to prove here but it will not bring back my PB and a state record on top of that.
I am a foreigner in Germany and fell treated as one.
Continue your attacks on me as you see fit. I spent over 20 years in the US Army to protect your right to do so.
