I definitely had frost this morning, and I suspect we had it Sunday morning also. Plant has been dying off due to age, and I imagine will more so with frost damage. I plan to pick my pumpkin this Friday. What is my best plan of action for keeping the pumpkin for a couple days? I'm thinking cover heavy at night, and try to keep cool during the day. Any advice is appreciated.

Sounds like you have the right plan. I have been there before myself. Leave it on the vine as long as you can; the roots can still feed it for at least a couple days. Covering at night will prevent any more damage to the skin of the pumpkin.

Thanks Mark. I had the kin covered in multiple flannel sheets overnight each night so I hope there wasn't any frost damage to the pumpkin itself.

When the season was over last year I cut the main vines about a foot away from the stumps. This was awhile after several hard frosts. The stumps continued to drip nectar from the stumps. I put a quart jar under the stump, every day the jars were overflowing. This continued for over a week. So I think you would still get feeding to the pumpkin irregardless of the loss of leaves.

Had frost on rooftops this morning but plants stayed safe. Been covering my kins with fleece blankets hospital blankets and heavy comforters. I leave them on until it warms up then remove them until it cools back down in the evening. See you Saturday.
