I have to travel quite a bit to weigh offs so I use a 2 inch closed cell foam, sort of like a dense memory foam. I seen a few literally break in 2 on route without padding

Would you be talking about something we call Kingspan for building insulation?

I use layers of old carpet padding. People throw it out all the time. Have had great luck with it

Carpet underlay also, Shipping blankets etc Your kingspan is like our hard styrofoam and that will absorb some shock for sure

The 2252 flew over an ocean, came across canada to the big apple and had no padding. Andy Wolf was like "maybe should have had some padding" Patons no worries that thing is solid. LOL

It has to be firm enough not to completely collapse, Dave,I thought pumpkins have been ruined by the heat buildup from shrink wrap during transport, but maybe there were underlying causes

I am sure if you left it on for extended periods of time ours do not exceed 24 hours.
I have used the polystyrene foam before you get 2-3 pumpkins out of them then need to purchase another. The elastomeric foam form fits the bottom much better & has much better cushion for the ride. We have been using this for 5 years now & they are very durable, you could also use old wrestling mats.

old carpet, carpet padding,a couple layers of cardboard,a thin layer of hay covered with a sheet, old photos of dave stelts,etc,etc,-----better than just laying on a plain skid or piece of plywood. J.I.T. (just in case) Pap
