Make sure the pallet has 4 way access for a forklift and/or pallet jack. I think it depends on if you are putting it on a trailer or in the bed of a pickup.

Make sure if it goes in a pickup that it will clear the wheel wells. You may have to make a riser to fit between the wheels so you get the pallet above it. And use wood screws instead of nails. Nails can work loose, pop out a little and scratch your pumpkin or the bed of your truck.

I use 60 x 60 pallets been used for a few years I glue down 1.5 inch white styro foam to them... I have 3 made them myself approx 60 bucks per pallet ... I also made a box to fit the pallet in bed of truck to get the pallet above wheel wells .. wood blocking holds everything down tight to box shrink wrap kin cover in wet blankets

As an event organizer and logistics coordinator....lol....nothing pains me much more on event day than seeing gigantic homemade pallets showing up holding up a foot of air all the way around the pumpkins. Many can't be pallet jacked. There it requires heavy equipment to move the entry. If everything else can be pallet jacked except a couple it's not safe and costs valuable time. Keep in mind a 42 x 42 pallet holds TONS of masonry without issue. I don't want to see folks cutting up the bottoms of their entries with pallets that are too small, but these pallets showing up with 2 x 8 or bigger construction are just not needed. 5 x 5 with a foam platform to reduce the incidence of cutting sure. Anything thicker than 2 x 4 construction is a waste.
