I have been growing and carving pumpkins in this pumpkin community for close to 20 years. In this time period the pumpkins have brought so much enjoyment to my life, both during high points and low points of my life. The support offered by these growers who do not even know me has been overwhelming.
As many of you know. My wife Jodi and I are carving for a TV Special this Sunday for the Travel Channel. The pumpkins we had lined up to carve fell through or did not make it. We were scrambling to find a Giant Pumpkin. So we did what this community is about, and networked. We had growers from all over the Midwest offer pumpkins. Thanks to this community there is a pumpkin on my trailer in the front yard ready to be carved. This is what this community is about. Friendships, and being in passionate about pumpkins. Yes the bickering occurs, people get their feelings hurt. In the end we are still a pretty tight community. Just remember this site has a lot of lurkers, who view the discussions and have not quite taken the next step to create a log in and get involved. The concerns are legitimate but should never become personal, as this is not what this hobby/sport is about.
Thank you for being their, during the high points and low points of our lives. Shannon Engel "Grow them Big, Orange and Pretty"

Not until 2018 we are the first ones being filmed. I really wanted them to come to Stillwater. Footage of the giant pumpkins smashing what I just carved is awesome

Hey to all members: I picked your site because you or someone said what an awesomm club we all belong to: Well I have a bone to pick. My name is John Hoepfner and I live in Appleton, WI. I have been a member for 10 year + and I have a fond spot in my heart for the club. However, for all the years I have been a member I have flunked growing a big KIN. Now this summer, maybe due to bad planning I planted a few of Don Langevin's seeds thinking that maybe I will grow something good, finally. My first mistake was to grow the kins in a community garden. However, my spot was in a raised Bed...think I will beat the varmints and disease's - well bottom line one of my kin's grew and grew. Now I have a 300+ lb kin parked next to my raised bin and I want to get her to a weigh-off...I have asked for help from my Mentor Glen Martin and he said he would help and call me...but no call from him or his wife Margaret yet. Big city grower has been real nice to me and has talked to Glen to and again Glen said he would help but so far to call. We do not have many weigh offs left and the weather may change and my kin may go south on me and on and on it goes. My BUCKET LIST INCLDED THAT I GROW A RESPECTABLE KIN BEFORE I PASS SO THEREFORE I REALLY NEED A CONFIRMATION FROM A MEMBER STATING THAT THEY WILL HELP ME GEY MS KIN TO A WEIGH OFF SAFE AND SOUND AND THAT THE CLUB PUT ME IN THE BOOK THAT I DID WELL IN MY LIFE WITH A RESPECTABLE KIN. THANKS FOR LISTENING. JOHN HOEPFNER
