I will do so, and hope others also do so. I am making a collection barrel for Hurricane relief...Texas & Florida! Will be at our Kentucky weigh-off (will ask permission first), and hopefully it will get full!!! If allowed I will ask site owner to collect, & then send to relief fund of his/her choice. Yes, this an emotional thing! The year I moved back home w/ my mom & dad...dad was on his way home from doing recovery work from Hurricane Andrew. I will also ask site to contribute a %, good news or bad...it's something to help us help each other. Peace, Wayne

Its a very good cause, Wayne. I spent 4 weeks on the north side of Lake Ponchatrain working on the USDA-NRCS Emergency Watershed Protection Program efforts after Katrina. It was a year and a half after the storm, and the worst of the mess had been cleaned up. But lots of the small streams were still plugged with debris and the amount of destruction was terrible. One of my sisters moved to a town just 10 miles north of Orlando the first of this year. She was fortunate, got out of Florida in time and came back to find minimal damage, just a few tree branches down, a few missing screens over the pool, no power or phone. Those areas are going to need help for years. Just finding places to take all the debris will be a huge problem. I know people will be generous now, but 2-3 years down the road there will still be need for assistance. They will need lots of money to bring in people, equipment and building supplies for a long time.

Iowegian, couple of quick questions. After $'s are collected, which place is the best to send $'s to? Was watching HandtoHand when I posted this, but realize that Red Cross is a long standing relief effort establishment. What would you suggest? Peace, Wayne
And best wishes, of course...to all doing work in any of the areas...first responders, recovery , and rebuilders!!!

Wayne It's very typical to find charities that have corporate backers that will double donations, The Red Cross generally would information on these programs. So I would make a few calls to find what's available
