wow..congratulations.. Chris Qualley. This was completely unexpected. Was this from two year old seed? If so I might have to see if I can get some more for myself next year. Hope you don't have any issues with the Guiness process.

ps I think the World Record people only accept "single root mass" yours looks like multiple. Hope they accept it.

We have to talk Chris into to trying to vernalize this carrot over the winter to get seeds next year. I sent him some info...it sounds difficult but how cool would it be to grow seeds from the actual WR carrot. Come on Qtip...i have faith in you...Can you get seeds from this carrot?

9/10/2017 3:02:19 PM

fridge is good qtip...have you decided on any fungiicide to apply... and do you have sawdust or woodchips available. Next fall these could be the hottest seeds in the nation.

Wow Chris! Big pumpkin(MN state record), big tomato(over 7 lbs.), and now WR carrot. What's next???

By the way, what was the heaviest carrot weighed before this one? The previous WR I mean.

The prevuous world record was 9.1 kg (20 lbs) held by one of the nicest growers i have had contact with. I have exchanged emails with him and he told me to congratulate Chris on his achievement. His comment, Qtips carrot looks the part. Sorry qtip, I also told him what the source of the seed was..since carrots are biennial watch out for him next year.
