Hi everyone, I'll start by saying this is my first year growing giant pumpkins and this site has been a great source of information. I had a late start and don't expect to enter any contests or anything, but I'm shooting for the best results within my ability. Unfortunately I had a leaf stem snap right off the main vine just before the pumpkin and I want to make sure I handle it correctly. I've read on here many times about using garden sulphur. Would this be the time to go that route or should I just watch and ensure it stays dry? My concern about the sulphur is that on the label it says to not use on pumpkins. Am I missing something?

If it's a powder, it should be ok. Trim the stalk so no water will sit in it and apply sulfur lightly. I use a small brush to wipe off excess. You don't want any clumping and keep it dry.

Awesome thanks! I just finished covering it with a little make shift tarp and threw a little fan by it to speed things up. I'll put a little sulphur on it now.

If it's sunny out, leave it uncovered. The sun will help it heal. Be careful how it is covered you don't want it staying moist all night. A raised cover is best. Also myself I don't cover where I have cut off leaves or I would have 50 covers through out my plant. Do what works best for you.
