Hi. I have this sunflower head that I am entering into a fair here September 27th. It has to be in two days early. September 29th is the fair. The head is done growing and the yellow pedals are starting to die. I have heard that once you cut the head off it will shrink quick. But if I leave the head on when the yellow pedals are dying will the sunflower head shrink even when it's still attached?

No it will actually get bigger by adding mass to the back of the flower-ie the tissue behind the seeds
