My stem fell off but it's not rotted all the way threw I put some sulfur on and it's solid again. Would this be a dq?

As far a I know the pumpkin does not have to have the stem. As long as it is healed it should be good.

Better ask Porkchop. He's the only one permitted to make that call.

If it doesn't rot your good...there's been quite a few I allowed without a stem...hopefully she will hold for you...rules are rules...

I think you will be ok...last year lifting the pumpkin out of the patch i snapped the stem off. I was worried but still took it to Stillwater. I talked to many experienced growers that told me that as long as it doesn't probe into the inner cavity it is good. Not only did the judges determine it was a sound fruit but it also won an HD award.

You are a nice guy Baker's Man and get along well with your fellow growers...I don't think you are in danger of failing Porkchop's section 4 rule 11. Claremongoose on the other hand, really needs to improve...he might fail next year too if he doesn't change attitude.

What about Josiah's 1965 pkn a couple years ago? His had some rot in a hole and was DQ'd? I imagine a stem hole would be similar in size.

Scape all rot or soft material out and face it toward the sun with a fan to help dry it out and you'll be fine not dq'd

The rot will go quick, esp on stem. No stem is no problem for being legal but they rot through in the middle and your are in the heat like me so good luck its hard to stop. Do what megakin said plus sulfer with captan but the heat humidity is the enemy. got to stop it early keep bone dry fans

yeah, we had a blossom rot, one day it was slightly soft then next the whole thing was soft. I wouldnt expect it to last more than 10 days to pick up.

Mr. Man, I think the end of the rule is..."thru into the cavity"...not a direct quote, but think you understand. Peace, Wayne
