as of late im reading a number of disparaging posts here on b.p. if your unhappy with the way things are being done at weigh offs or with g.p.c. jump in and lend a hand. lets try and fix these things together. not by posting disparaging remarks on here about one another. weigh offs and the g.p.c. can always use extra volunteers. there is a list of the g.p.c. officers on the G.P.C. website. please contact your regional rep and take up your concerns with them, through the proper channels. Thank You! to all the people that volunteer at different events and weigh offs. Thank You! to all the folks at the G.P.C for volunteering your time and much more. and a Big Thank You! to Ken for making this site possible. Good luck to everyone this year.

Here at Anamosa we owe big thanks to lots of volunteers. The high school wrestling team has always provided muscle power for getting things weighed. The REC provides the forklift for weighing and truck for the parade float. John Dirks is the skilled forklift operator. Several growers and other experienced people supervise the wrestlers to make sure the pumpkins are lifted safely. A couple growers bring lifting rings. Lots of other volunteers do numerous tasks to make the show ron smoothly. We would lost without them.

tis lots of hard work to organize, coordinate, deligate, raise funds, get permits, get insurance, security, volunteers, promote and advertize.....and all kinda unappreciated by the majority.....sad stuff

Are you really serious C-goose. What planet are you from? Did someone stick a burr up your butt? Every site could use some improvement, but it takes volunteers to make it happen. Why haven't you stepped up to offer help instead of all your complaining? Be part of the solution.

Cgoose, I have never seen a sound fruit given the DQ. I have seen damaged fruit DQ'd; Don Young, Scot Steil, Carlson & Petersen, my son Jacob and others. It even happened to me last year. I took a field pumpkin to Pawnee City. It had a stem split but was not into the cavity when we left home. Just before they weighed it Darren Christiansen and Don Young probed the crack and it had opened into the cavity. It might have happened on the 6 hour drive, it might have been a kid who sat on it before judging. Who knows? It would have won by 27 pounds. Stuff happens. No one was out to get me, I wasn't mad about it. And no one is out to get you. Go ahead and enter it, a state record is great. We saw several state records last year at Pawnee City. State records are fun. I know, I have the Iowa record long gourd. Don't go looking for trouble, have fun with it.

Quit bitching & trying to start fights & start trying to be a positive part of this community. Your the one that started all this in previous threads. You just seem to want to stir up a lot a crap. Go back to the hole in the ground you crawled out of & let us real growers get back to enjoying this great sport.
