How much sun light would have to go away for the plant to think it was the end of the day? Could the eclipse trick the plant in to thinking its night and start a new cycle that was only half a day long?

They will know something is happening. Absolutetly Far Red light dominate in areas that have dawn or dusk conditions.... Affects will be very short so not a huge .... would be interesting for growers to post measurement results before and after in they are affected...

I hope they think it's another day and night I hope my gains double for 24 hours but doubt it .....it takes leafs to have photosynthesis

I was in the path of totality or had the full eclipse here and it was completely dark... very weird. The frogs and cicadas started calling for a few minutes in my yard, and everything else was dead quiet.

I was out in the garden, total overcast. It looked like it might start raining for a couple minutes, then brightened up. We were supposed to be 91% covered, but didn't look like it.

Plants can only tell the hours of continual darkness and can not measure the hours of light they are exposed to. This is important for flowering plants. So essentially the pumpkins will think there was a 3min night which is not enough time to adjust their physiological functions so essentially there will be no change that we can measure via OTT or pounds.
