Have just uploaded some photos of my crack to my diary (18/8)
Would be keen to hear from growers experiencing similar splits. How big of a problem is this?
Thanks Pete

It's done for. I've caulked those and still gained weigh over the next week but once you get air in the cavity it's just a matter of time now.
Bummer.

Ahh man that sucks. The one that got away and was on track for a pb.
The photo makes.it look darker that it is. Guess I'll just have to see how it plays out. Time to start ordering the cover crop seed I guess as it's my only pumpkin.

Can you stick a piece of straw or something like that in the hole? Does it go all the way into the cavity?
It looks like a pin hole in the rib that ripped open?

It does look like a hole from a internal crack/rib intersection. If you can probe it air and mold spores have gotten into the fruit seed cavity and its days are numbered/if its not a hole its a small external crack and wont be a problem..cant be sure from your photo-time for the straw test
